Thanks to successful conferences in recent years, the BSA Medical Sociology Group committee has been able to increase its support for a number of groups who may find it difficult to obtain funding for attendance at its annual conference. For the 2012 annual conference , which will take place on 5-7 September at the University of Leicester, a number of free places will be available (including registration, meals, accommodation and conference dinner):
- Fifteen free places for postgraduate students
- Five free places for the unwaged
- Five free places for individuals working outside academia, including sociologists in non-academic posts, those working in civil society organisations or service user groups, etc.
These places will be distributed to eligible individuals who apply to the BSA before 25 May 2012. If there are more applicants than available places, then places will be allotted to eligible applicants through a process of random allocation.
To apply for a place, please visit the web site for detailed eligibility and to download the application form. Please note those who have previously received a funded place will not be eligible to apply. Completed forms should be sent to email@example.com before May 25. You will be notified regarding you application shortly after the deadline. If you are unsuccessful, you will be placed on a reserve list. If you are successful and later find that you are unable to attend the conference, please notify the BSA office as soon as possible, so that the place might be offered to someone on the reserve list. Please note that free places cover registration, accommodation and subsistence for the conference. Unfortunately it is not possible to subsidise travel to and from the conference.
