Paul Wake writes: It’s now exactly two months to the Call for Papers deadline for the 28th International Conference on Narrative which takes place in Manchester – June 27-29, 2013. Things are shaping up extremely well with three fantastic keynote speakers lined up (Catherine Belsey, Diane Negra and Nicholas Royle) and two very exciting contemporary narrative theory panels (Torben Grodal, Liesbeth Korthals Altes, Greta Olson, Ruth Page, Richard Walsh, Jan Christoph Meister). We’ve had a host of really exciting looking proposals for individual papers, and we’re hoping that we’ll receive many more over the next two months.
Call for Papers: Sponsored by the International Society for the Study of Narrative and hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University, the International Conference on Narrative is an interdisciplinary forum addressing all dimensions of narrative theory and practice. We welcome proposals for papers and panels on all aspects of narrative in any genre, period, discipline, language, and medium.
Proposals for Individual Papers: Please provide the title and a 300-word abstract of the paper you are proposing; your name, institutional affiliation, and email address; and a brief statement (no more than 100 words) about your work and your publications.
Proposals for Panels: Please provide a 700-word (maximum) description of the topic of the panel and of each panelist’s contribution; the title of the panel and the titles of the individual papers; and for each participant the name, institutional affiliation, email address, and a brief statement (no more than 100 words) about the person’s work and publications.
Please send proposals by email as a PDF, Word or RTF document.
Further details: Please plan for ninety-minute sessions when determining how long your presentation should be. It is the policy of the ISSN that 30 minutes of each 90-minute session be devoted to comments and questions from the audience. Since a typical session includes three speakers, each panellist should plan to speak for no more than twenty minutes.
Deadline for Receipt of Proposals: Monday January 14 2013
All participants must join the International Society for the Study of Narrative. For more information on the ISSN click here. The CFP can be downloaded here. More information on the conference can be found on the conference website.
